Over 120 cabin owners and family attended the 2017 annual cabin owners meeting on June 24th. The full minutes from the meeting can be found under Meeting Minutes. One of the most exciting messages was the $15,000 road repair project that the association will be funding to repair the cabin roads. As Bill Westbrook, the Zigzag District Ranger told the crowd, that for over 3000 miles of USFS roads, they have a $100k budget – their goal is address safety – not comfort. As our permits outline, the USFS is not responsible for our road maintenance, therefore the Mt Hood Forest Homeowners Association will be spending over $15,000 to repair the potholes on both asphalt and gravel cabin roads – a first ever event.
Maintenance road repair contract was awarded to David Linn Trucking and Excavation, a local company who has worked many years directly with the USFS. Work is scheduled to begin in September 0f 2017 and schedule of roads will be posted on this website. This project is funded solely by cabin owners dues and donations. If you are not a member of MHFHA please know that we can only do these type of projects with every cabin owners participation.
Other topics were discussed at the annual meeting including Fran’s replacement. As Bill Westbrook explained, there is a federal hiring freeze so there are currently 10 job openings listed as critical and replacing Fran’s position is one of those. Virginia Daniel has been assigned the temporary replacement for Fran. Her contact information is firstname.lastname@example.org and 503-622-2031.
Project requests season is Aug 15 to Nov 15 for the following year. That means if you have a deck, painting, outbuilding etc project you need to get that request in now to be considered for approval for next spring/summer.
