Darl,

I received a call from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Department. The Vancouver Police found a stolen U-Haul with the driver asleep. Inside it was stuffed with stolen cabin furniture. They sent me a picture of my living room set, so I know some of my stuff was inside. Not sure if the other cabin owners have been notified. Can you spread the word?

They also mentioned that they have the driver in custody; hopefully more arrests forthcoming. By the sounds of it, they have recovered a lot of furniture (at least the truck was filled to the brim).

Thank you.

If you had you cabin broken into and items stolen you should contact the Clackamas County Sheriffs office if the have not already contacted you. Their phone number is 503/655-8218

I attended the annual convention of the National Forest Homeowners last weekend in Sacramento and one of the speakers was Ron Ketter, Deputy Regional Forester with the USFS, region 5. He stated that the issues with the USFS new software which configures and produces the special use permit fee invoices, should be “fixed” and bills should arrive some time in June 2013. You will have 30 days to pay the bill in full.

House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (R-WA) on March 14th introduced H.R. 1159, the Cabin Fee Act of 2013.

H.R. 1159 is identical to H.R. 3397, the 2012 Cabin Fee Act, which passed the House of Representatives last September. The only exception is a slightly modified fee table (as approved earlier by the C2 cabin coalition) to accommodate what we believe will be necessary to satisfy the Congressional Budget Office.

If all goes well, H.R. 1159 will have a “markup” by the NR Committee within the next week. A CBO report on the bill should be forthcoming soon after the markup. Then a vote will be sought next month on the standalone bill by the full House. Following House passage, the bill will go directly to the desk of the Senate Majority Leader, where it could be brought up at any time for a vote unless the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee exercises its jurisdiction over the bill.
In case the bill is referred to the Senate ENR Committee, we are concurrently working closely with committee staff to resolve any concerns they may have with the bill.

To see the entire bill please CLICK HERE
