Most cabin owners are not aware that they are included in a CPO or even know what a CPO is. The purpose of a CPO or Community Planning Organization is to involve citizens in land use issues in unincorporated areas.

There are several CPOs covering the mountain. Currently the cabin areas are divided among two. There is the Rhododendron CPO involving the lower roads up to Road 20. The Government Camp CPO takes in all the other cabins.

Until now the Forest Service cabins have been a “non-issue” for the CPOs. Now they would like to have us become involved and are proposing including all the cabins in the Rhododendron CPO.

If you would like to become more aware of their projects,  take a moment to read the minutes of their last meeting.    CPO 10-16-10
